Night Huntress, Book 1
By: Jeaniene Frost
Narrated by: Tavia Gilbert
Length: 11H and 17M
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.
In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Jeaniene Frost lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. And while she can't see ghosts, she loves to walk through old cemeteries. Jeaniene also loves poetry and animals but fears children and hates to cook. She is currently at work on the next novel in her best-selling Night Huntress series.

I read this book before I listen to it, it was not available on audio then. I love this book and I love this series, the narrator did a great job with most of the voices, but my God I hated the way she did Bones, I only got over it because this is a great book, I still enjoyed, but please!!! can they start using two different narrator for these books.
Maybe now that audio books are becoming more popular due to the easy access, they start thinking about putting out a better product.
If Bones would have sounded just a little better, I would have given this book 5 hearts all the way!

Halfway to the grave is one of my favorite PNR series, very interesting story, likable heroine and sexy british vampire. My problem with the audio version is Bones's british accent. The narrator is great at portraying Cat but there is a LOT to be desired from Bone's accent. I just couldnt listen to it, he doesnt sound manly or sexy at all. Book deserves 5 stars but the narator KILLED Bones which made me sad.

Loved this story and the characters! The only flaw is the narrator's portrayal of Bones (the male lead): not strong or sexy enough for such a great character. However, Ms. Gilbert did a great job as Cat (the female lead) and a good job with the lesser characters. Can't wait for the 2nd book in this series to go Audible!

If you like the Sookie Stackhouse series you're very likely to love this one. Plucky, tough heroine, lots of humoristic twists and plenty of fangy drool-material. Quite bloodthirsty, dead sexy and completely addictive. Also great narrator - I love her Bones-accent.
