Cassandra Palmer, Book 1
Author: Karen Chance
Narrator: Cynthia Holloway
Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits - talents that make her attractive to the dead and the undead alike. The ghosts of the dead aren't usually dangerous; they just like to talk...a lot.The undead are another matter.
Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires, but when the bloodsucking mafioso she escaped three years ago finds her again with vengeance on his mind, she's forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection.
The undead senators won't help her for anything, and Cassie finds herself working with one of their most powerful members, a dangerously seductive master vampire - and the price he demands may be more than Cassie is willing to pay.
I don't know what happened with this one, there is a lot people that loved the written version of this book. I just couldn't get into it, It could have been that I was on a Fever series withdraw , narration was not very good, in all fairness I will post two reviews from different listeners from audible.com.
Good Story, Narration So-So"By Lynn (Edison, NJ, USA) Oct 13, 2008
I happen to have already read all the books in this trilogy, so I can now better understand how everything ultimately ties together. I had forgotten parts of the story so it was good to listen to it. If you like urban fantasy books with strong female characters, sexy supernatural beings, and plots that involve time travel, supernatural Councils, ghosts, war mages, internecine wars, and a vampire Mafia, then you'll enjoy this book.
I thought that the narration was rather choppy in that it seemed like the first read-through by the narrator was the one recorded; the words sounded somewhat stilted. I'm still wondering why she gave the Irish riverboat gambler ghost a Southern accent.
Help!!!!"By Brenda (Charlestown, IN, United States) Aug 30, 2009
I listen to a ton of books and this one is bad! I say that because of the way the book is read. She begins the book like she is angry and continues to read in a weird monotone that rarely gets my attention. I really wanted this to be better! The story? I have no idea because the reader bored me to death. I actually daydreamed while listening to this???
